StarTeam was conceived by Maxim in 2011: at that time, the online manager under the name FMIL began working on the Ucoz hosting and did not have the opportunity to develop and automate. In 2013, the project ceased to exist and the development of a more advanced online manager under the conditional name FMIL 2.0 began. Development continued intermittently until 2016, but due to lack of time and resources, it was discontinued. From time to time, Maxim tried to resume work on the game; however, until 2023, the situation did not improve significantly.
Finally, in 2023-24, the main game engine was completed, and the game received its new name - "StarTeam." The development of the game continued until 21th October 2025, when beta testing was opened.
